Zoi Karakinari holds a 5-year Diploma in Architecture from AUTh, a Master and a PhD in Landscape Architecture from Joint Postgraduate Program in Landscape Architecture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has been adjunct lecturer and tutor in landscape architecture in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from 2005 up to 2017. As a freelance architect, she practices architecture since 2001 and landscape architecture since 2005 with projects in Greece and abroad. Her practice strongly refers and relates to sustainable architecture and landscape design based on “topos” identity.

She has contributed with her work at many offices and studios, including the architectural office of Mary Ananiadou-Tzimopoulou, an award winning office which is specialized in landscape architecture studies, the Agoutoglou office with architectural studies and realized work, the Inbo Architectural Office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with architectural studies and accomplished work, and the KUIPER-OOSTERHEERT-WUBBEN Architectural and Urban Office, in the Netherlands, dealing with residential developments and urban redevelopment. Scientifically, she has worked supporting technically twelve research programs in AUTh focused in landscape architecture, urban and rural design, as well as cultural heritage, in order to redefine urban landscape icons, develop new strategies for “tops identity”, upgrade and establish a transdisciplinary open green space syntax. Her work and papers are published in scientific journals, conference proceedings and exhibitions’ catalogues.

She has participated and awarded in several national and European architectural and urban design competitions (4 awards, 2 distinctions). She has also participated in many PanHellenic and international exhibitions and workshops, either with her projects (4th European Biennial of Landscape Architecture, CULTURE 2000- European Cultural Program, School of Architecture AUTh) or as scientific and organizational committee (School of Architecture AUTh, HotHouse 3 – Urmadic University, CULTURE 2000, Environmental Council of AUTh).

Graduated from the Technical School in Wuppertal as technical engineer. A wide range of experiences as a technical leader, service leader and key account manager in various high and medium-sized businesses. As the leader manager in the hydraulic field I was directly in charge of customers as:

Co. Blade Technology-Israel, subcontractor of Boeing for engine shovels,
Co. Buderus,
Co. Delphi diesel system,
Co. Bosch diesel system.
Project manager of a company for screen-printing- machines in China.

Extensive technical knowledge covers the general special machine construction, electro control, hydraulics and high pressure technique for test and processing installations. Optimization of any condition in multi-task projects to expand the maximum of the potentiality of any kind procedures and products. Since 1994 entered inventors’ German patent office as a Holder of 3 patents for special machines and/or special solutions.
